Account Administration Tips
Groups
- Creating meaningful groups can be very useful. For instance, a group
called stdnt96 could be used to designate users who are students
in the class of 96.
- All users in a group can be listed using the List users function
on the Account Administration page.
- All users in a group can be removed using the Delete all users in a
group function on the Account Administration page.
User Accounts
- The List users function on the Account Administration
page is very useful. You can create a list using any combination of
the following criteria:
- Users logged in
- Users over a percentage of their quota
- Users who match a certain phrase
- Users who belong to a certain group
Once the table of users has been compiled you can click on any user
name to show account information.
- Users accounts can be reset using the Reset user account function
on the Account Administration page. This is needed if the user
has accidentally changed or deleted one or more of the necessary
account configuration files in their home directory, rendering their
account unusable.
- One word,
batch_adduser
.
This utility allows you to take a spreadsheet file and create many
accounts at once using it.
